YOUNG PEOPLE
Safety advice
There’s a wealth of information on the web about using blogging sites safely and responsibly. Most sites have their own safety pages and it’s good to check these regularly when using these sites.
In addition check out the advice on these pages.
If you are thinking about creating your own blogging site, 3 useful principles to follow are:
Creativity: Showing off original content, design, and ideas.
Impact: What would want users coming back to this site? Does it have some benefit in either entertainment, education or social benefit?
Safety: Does the site conform to good practice in terms of privacy, safety and responsible use? E.g. no inappropriate photos, language.
For many years Childnet ran an international Childnet Academy competition which rewarded young people who were using the web in a positive way. This international programme ran a
monthly competition to find the best blogging sites produced by children and young people (under 18) which benefited others.

Although the competition has now ended, we continue to welcome work that has been designed by young people. So, should you wish to send in your work,
then email it to us at info@childnet.com
