Childnet turns 20!
Since our inception in 1995 we have followed our mission; to work in partnership with others around the world to help make the internet a great and safe place for children.
As we celebrate 20 years of working towards our mission, we’ve created a special anniversary report which shares our journey mapped out under four key values that have remained at the heart of what we do from the very beginning.
Empowerment, working with others, giving young people a voice and reaching out internationally make up four of the areas that have helped us continue to promote the positive power of the internet whilst responding to the risks and equipping children and young people to deal with them.
International impact
We work with others around the world to achieve a positive impact across education, policy and youth participation globally.
“Childnet International and the Cybersmart program have had a very valuable partnership over many years. We have worked together to adapt and create resources which have had a real impact on young people in Australia. We continue to share good practice and look forward to collaborating further as we develop the Cybersmart program, under the Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner.”
Rosalie O’Neale, Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner, Australia
“We live in a digital age where at the touch of a button – children can access reams of information to help them learn and stay in touch. But as a parent, I know how important it is to ensure that they also stay safe online. That’s why the work that Childnet have done over the last 20 years is so valuable, helping children and families’ access advice and support.Nicky Morgan, Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities
