Jess joined the Childnet team in September 2020. She holds a first in Creative Writing from The University of Essex and a PGCE from Goldsmiths University. After qualifying, Jess spent seven years teaching English in inner city schools, supporting young people in both curriculum and pastoral roles. These experiences provided her with detailed insight into the vast impact of technology on young people and education. Jess is particularly interested in online language use and its effects.
Jess has travelled widely and loves to read and write creatively. She also volunteers and is a long-suffering Newcastle United fan.
My top online safety tip:
Be mindful that everything your peers share online is carefully chosen or cultivated. It is easy to feel as though everyone else is having a better time than you, so remember that you are never getting the full story.
