Internet Matters

13 May 2014

The UK’s four biggest internet service providers (ISPs) – Virgin Media, Sky, TalkTalk and BT – have combined forces to launch a campaign designed to promote awareness of internet safety.

Mother and daughter, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Janet Ellis launched the campaign this morning from the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, London.

Childnet and the UK Safer Internet Centre attended the event, joined by other leading internet safety experts such as Professor Sonia Livingstone from EU Kids Online, the IWF, the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and CEOP, as well as DCMS minister Ed Vaizey MP.

The www.internetmatters.org website has lots of information about staying safe online and the campaign will raise awareness about the parental control tools offered by the big ISPs that help to filter the internet on every device in your home. To find out more about how to set up parental controls on your home internet, why not check the video guides at our UK Safer Internet Centre website www.saferinternet.org.uk/parents.
