Celebrate World Book Day with Digiduck!

2 March 2016

Sharing a story with your child is such a special experience, and for World Book Day 2016 (Thursday 3rd March) we have just the story for you.

Snuggle up, make yourselves comfortable, and immerse yourself in the adventures of Digiduck and his pals.

The internet is an amazing resource for children and adults alike, but learning to navigate the online world can be hard at times, and mistakes are sometimes made. Children need gentle guidance, and support from those that they trust, to be able to develop their online skills and safety knowledge, to get the best out of the internet and all that technology has to offer.

When Digiduck anonymously receives a picture of one of his friends looking silly, he is keen to share the joke. Will the help and advice of Wise_Owl (from Digiduck’s favourite website the ‘Family Farmyard’) influence his decision? You’ll have to read to find out!

This wonderful story of friendship, with beautiful illustrations, was shortlisted for an ISPA in 2015 and has been read and enjoyed by many famous faces, including Andy Day (CBeebies) for Safer Internet Day radio, and Janet Ellis & Sophie Ellis-Bextor for the Digiduck story App!

Printed copies of Digiduck’s Big Decision are available in A4 size to order from our online shop and contain questions for discussion with children, plus advice for teachers, parents and carers at the end.

Alternatively you can read our online ebook, or download the PDF version if you want to print your own copy. If you speak another language, Digiduck has been made available in Spanish and Norwegian too!

If you love Digiduck why not dress up like Shawclough School have…

Remember to tweet your images to @childnet so we can share them.

Let us know if you have enjoyed Digiduck’s Big Decision and if your little ones think that he made the right choice. Happy World Book Day 2016!
