15 January 2009

Childnet were proud winners of the BETT Award for E-safety at the 11th annual prestigious BETT Awards.

Organised and managed by Emap, Becta and BESA (The British Educational Suppliers Association), the annual BETT Awards aim to recognise, reward and celebrate ICT excellence within the education sector by honouring outstanding resources and learning solutions developed by educational suppliers. Entries to the BETT Awards are judged by over 50 education professionals to ensure a fair and meticulous process.

Beating off stiff competition from Roar Educate (in conjunction with LGfL) US Online resource, Know IT All was awarded this prestigious honour based on Know IT All’s comprehensive coverage of the e-safety agenda, the fact that it is easy to use while still being media-rich and that it offers excellent diversity and accessibility

CEO Will Gardner said,

“I am delighted that Childnet have won this major award and that the outstanding quality of this innovative education resource has again been recognised. Know IT All is a ground-breaking resource, and this fantastic resource continues to go from strength to strength and over 1 million copies of Know IT All have now been distributed for free. This resource supports parents in keeping up with their children on the Internet, which is vital for children to get the most out of the technology and be both safe and responsible online. We also need to reach teachers and we look forward to launching the new Know IT All for Primary resource, supported by UKCCIS, in the Spring of this year.”

Maintained schools in the UK can order bulk quantities of this award-winning resource free of charge for distribution to parents and for use in schools via the DCSF publications system phoning 0845 60 222 60 quoting 00308-2007CDO-EN

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2009, BETT has evolved into the world’s largest technology in education event. With over 29,000 visitors and 700 educational exhibitors, BETT continues to support creative teaching and learning by enabling practitioners to touch and test resources, debate ideas and continue their professional development.
