Top Award for Childnet’s Founder

Nigel Williams, Childnet’s founder and first CEO, has been awarded an international award for his “outstanding contribution with international impact to the awareness of social implications of information technology”, at the Institut d’Informatique, Namur, Belgium.

Nigel, who left Childnet in October 2003 to become the first N.Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People, (NICCY) said on receiving the award,

“I am delighted to receive this award from such a prestigious international organisation, and I am very pleased that I will be able to use the opportunity to highlight how the internet is becoming an everyday part of all our children’s lives.”

Stephen Carrick-Davies and Will Gardner from Childnet were able to congratulate Nigel at the award ceremony in Namur.
