Childnet Academy Winner showcases the Children’s conference in Jamaica 2005!

6 May 2005

Samuel Odofin, the Nigerian developer of the amazing bio-technology site which won a place at this year’s Cable & Wireless Childnet Academy has designed a fantastic report on the young people’s conference on “Releasing potential, Minimising Risk” which took place in Jamaica in March 2005.

Young people from the Academy programme and 30 others from schools in Jamaica created a document on what they felt that leaders of industry and government should do to make the Internet a great and safe place for young people. The created a document which Samuel has showcased here using an acronym “WHAT WE WANT FROM THE NET”.

It was presented to government officials and representatives of big corporates such as Cable & Wireless and Microsoft at the adult’s stream of the conference. This is a fabulous example of young people being empowered to have their voices heard.
