Ask.fm support Childnet

9 February 2015

We are delighted to announce that Ask.fm have made a donation to support Childnet’s work.

The funding will go towards Childnet’s work as the UK Safer Internet Centre and will begin this February with Safer Internet Day.

Ask.fm’s Director of Safety & Trust, EU, Annie Mullins OBE, said, “Ask.fm is pleased to be supporting Childnet and Safer Internet Day here in the UK as well as in the US. It’s through these collective efforts that we hope to bring young people and parents the resources they need for a safer Internet experience.”

As Will Gardner, CEO of Childnet added “our mission is to work with partners around the world to help make the internet a great and safe place for children. With Ask.fm’s donation we can continue our work to help to equip young people with the skills to stay safe online”.

For parents and carers, Safer Internet Day is a great time to have a conversation with their child about staying safe online. The parent’s page on the UK Safer Internet Centre website contains a list of recourses including conversation starters and a parent’s fact sheet that can help parents stay engaged with their children’s digital lives.

For young people Safer Internet Day is a chance to join together to declare that creating a better internet is #Up2Us! One way to do this is to be a good friend to others online and that’s why we’re encouraging young people to take the Safer Internet Day Quiz to find out if they are a good friend on the internet. Ask.fm is also standing up to bullying with their #nobullies campaign in honour of Safer Internet Day. Follow @ask_fm on Twitter and post your anti-bullying message with #nobullies!
