Video chat advice for young people

20 June 2013

We are pleased to announce that our new advice ‘Video Chat and Webcams’ is now available to read online or download. The advice is aimed at young people using video chat services such as Skype, FaceTime and Google Hangouts and provides top tips and technical advice for using video chat and webcams safely.

We worked with a group of pupils from Hatchend School who gave us some great ideas for improving the advice and helped make sure it is relevant to young people and the way they use video chatting services. Our thanks go to all the young people involved.

The advice is available to view online in our Hot Topics section, and is also available as a downloadable leaflet.

BBC Radio 5 Live have also today launched a story on the risks of webcam hacking which is available to listen to on their site.

The advice was produced as part of the work of the UK Safer Internet Centre, and co-funded by the European Union and AT&T.
