6 reasons to enter the Childnet Film Competition 2024

26 September 2023

This year we are celebrating 15 years of championing youth voice!

Since 2010, thousands of young people aged 7-18 and hundreds of schools and youth organisations across the UK have entered the Childnet Film Competition, creating films to help other young people stay safe online.

Our competition provides a platform for young people to tell their stories and be heard in spaces they can’t usually access.

So whether you’re a teacher, youth leader, adult working with young people or a young person aged 7-18 who is passionate about films…here are six reasons you should enter our competition:

  1. Learn new skills and have fun being creative with your friends! This is a chance for you to showcase your creativity and passion for film. We’re not looking for perfect films!
  2. Make the internet a better place: the short films you create can inspire your friends and others to create positive changes online!
  3. Gain experience and to have the chance to meet industry experts who judge your film. Last year’s finalists met some of our prestigious judges from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), BBC and Disney!
  4. Win state of the art filmmaking equipment so your school or youth group can keep making wonderful films.
  5. Enjoy an awards ceremony in a central London location with the other finalists!
  6. Your film could be classified by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).
