Members of staff from Childnet were pleased to be invited by one of their valued sponsors ‘Thales’ to help on their stand at the International Festival of the Sea in Portsmouth. The Festival is one of the largest maritime events in Europe, and hosts more than 200,000 visitors over 4 days.

Childnet were given an area on the Thales stand. Here, packs of education and awareness material including Kidsmart leaflets for schools, details on activity days and new material on music downloading were available for teachers, parents and children. There was also an interactive area for young people to play internet safety games, and talk to Childnet staff.

A youth and education day was organised for the Thursday of the Festival, and the Princess Royal accompanied by Admiral Sir Jonathan Band visited the Thales stand, and talked with Childnet’s CEO, Stephen Carrick Davies about the relevance of internet safety material.

The youth and education day was a great opportunity for teachers and Children from the south coast to learn from the Festival, and also to visit the Childnet area.

Childnet was really pleased to be involved with the exciting event and to have another opportunity to widen the reach of its education and awareness materials.
