Childnet networkers spring into 2009

17 January 2009

Childnet’s networkers got 2009 off to a strong and positive start, meeting in early January and covering a full agenda. The session held in Childnet’s offices welcomed three new members who were quickly integrated into the team and whizzed by in a blur of fun, work and pizza.

After considering and then designing their digital footprints, the networkers set to work in small groups focusing on a range of Childnet projects, sharing their thoughts and experience, before sharing their net-wisdom on film.

Childnet’s education team discovered that all of the networkers were potential media super-stars, and were thrilled with the positive feedback and suggestions which will help to ensure that the voice of the child and young person remains central in all of Childnet’s work.

Ellen Ferguson, Schools Manager said,

“The networkers are an incredible team of young people. Their enthusiasm and energy was infectious, and their honesty when they didn’t like something was really useful for us and underlined the value that they add to Childnet.”

The session closed with the issue of a challenge to all the networkers: Their mission was to create an innovative and exciting activity to promote the SMART rules to their schools on Safer Internet Day.
