E-safety in the computing curriculum

Childnet have launched a guide for teachers that will help support the teaching of e-safety as outlined in the new Computing curriculum.

Supported by Yahoo Safely, the Childnet guide aims to highlight the key learning aims related to e-safety in the computing cirriculum so as to help teachers cover this key new component.

As CEO of Childnet, Will Gardner, explained:

“Although most of the headlines surrounding the new Computing Curriculum are around Coding, the teaching of e-safety is a clear and key requirement of new Computing Curriculum from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4. We fully support the inclusion of e-safety in the curriculum and we are delighted, with support from Yahoo!, to be able to support this teaching of e-safety.”

To ensure that pupils have access to a broad and balanced e-safety education at each key stage the resource is made up of 4 separate guides for Key Stages 1 to 4. It is intended as a practical guide to understanding the key learning aims of the computing curriculum in relation to e-safety and digital literacy, and to highlight and signpost to educational resources and materials that can be used to meet those aims.
