E-safety live is back on the road!

The UK Safer Internet Centre is starting another round of its outreach programme in the UK

Our flagship programme that tours the UK to bring free online safety briefings to any professionals working with children and young people is back up and ready for its next phase.

Our flagship programme that tours the UK to bring free online safety briefings to any professionals working with children and young people is back up and ready for its next phase. Having run a two year programme from 2012 – 2014, and 138 free online safety briefings across the country, we are now planning the next 18-month phase. Over the last two years we have visited the far corners of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England and seen over 4,000 professionals – teachers, social workers, police officers, youth workers, adoption and foster care workers and many more and have equipped them with essential knowledge about safeguarding not only the young people they work with but also themselves online.

The feedback we collected from those who attended told us that bullying (including cyberbullying) is still by far the biggest issue they face in their organisations and schools. We use this information to shape our work in terms of awareness raising and the resources we produce.

And we know this format works! 99% of those who attended also told us they felt better equipped to protect children and their organisations online as a result of attending one of our free briefings.

So this year – with support from the Government’s Equalities Office, The European Commission and the main four ISPs – BT, Sky, Virgin and TalkTalk – we’re looking to organise a further 80 Online Safety Briefings around the country until March 2016.

As before, the briefings will be 2-hour long sessions on e-Safety including latest emerging trends, research into online behaviours, resources, sources of support, as well as legal and law enforcement updates.

We are kicking off with 2 sessions at Twitter HQ in London on 13 April and then will be touring Wales between 27-30 April.

The events are being added on our website as we confirm them on our website – so please check www.esafetylive.com for new dates and locations in your area and register online following the relevant event link.

If you are a school or organisation that is willing to host an event for us please get in touch at [email protected].
