Exciting opportunity to join the Childnet Youth Advisory Board

12 April 2024

Do you know or work with a young person aged 13-17 who is active online and passionate about making the internet a safer and more positive environment for everyone?

Are they confident sharing their opinion, but respectful and open to other perspectives?

Do they want to celebrate the opportunities being online has to offer, whilst championing change that can make a real difference to young people’s online experiences?

Then they may want to join Childnet’s Youth Advisory Board!

Childnet’s Youth Advisory Board is a group of young people aged 13-17 who take part in monthly calls with Childnet’s Education Team to share their perspectives on a wide range of online issues and topics, actively shaping our messaging and contributing to our work.

Here are 5 reasons to join our Youth Advisory Board:

  1. Have their voice heard
We listen to what young people say we should be discussing and focusing on, and what they say will directly inform our work
  2. Help us develop our educational resources
The Youth Advisory Board will play a key role in helping us develop and create educational resources for other young people, parents and carers, and educators
  3. Collaborate with other young people from across the UK
This is a great opportunity to meet and work with other like-minded young people who are also passionate about online safety
  4. Have opportunities to represent Childnet nationally
Childnet will identify and offer opportunities to represent our charity and lead the way in speaking out about important online issues
  5. Have fun!
Don’t just take our word for it – Thomas, who sat on our board last year, had this to say about his experience:
“Being part of the YAB has been one of the most amazing experiences and it has allowed me to meet new people and friends, gain new skills and gain unique and superb oppurtunities like speaking to the social media industry or taking part in the Safer Internet Day 2023 as their keynote speaker.
