Join our team – School Relations and Administration Assistant

9 August 2018

We are looking to appoint a full-time School Relations and Administration Assistant to support the day-to-day running of Childnet’s educational projects as well as provide broader financial administrative support to Childnet’s Business Manager.

About the role

Childnet prides itself on the quality of this work and is now looking to appoint a School Relations and Administration Assistant to help assist with the day to day running of the small and busy team.

Keys tasks undertaken in this role include:

  • Administrative support
  • Dispatch
  • Supporting education outreach work
  • Customer service
  • Database management
  • Order processing

A day in the life

Siobhan Slater, Childnet’s current School Relations and Administration Assistant, said about her job :

“The role is very diverse as it requires supporting the Digital Leaders team, the wider Education team and the Childnet resources shop, as well as working with the Business Manager with invoicing, processing expenses and other financial tasks.
“Supporting the Digital Leaders programme involves a variety of tasks including dealing with enquiries from teachers, enrolling schools, uploading students to the Digital Leaders platform and database management. it’s exciting hearing back directly from teachers on how students have benefitted from the program and the amazing ways that they have shared their new knowledge within their community.
“Another important task is to send out resources for the Activity Days in schools, organised by the Education Team – where a member of Childnet staff spends a day in a school speaking with young people, teachers and parents. To ensure that these days run smoothly the appropriate resources need to be sent out in advance, and you need to be organised to keep on track of who needs to receive what and when. Orders made on the Childnet shop also need to be managed and this involves collating the resources, creating invoices and organising couriers as well as keeping an eye on stock levels.
“Juggling these different parts of the role require time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently. The School Relations and Administration Assistant applicant will need to be proactive and flexible as every day can bring about new tasks!
Childnet are a small team with a passion for helping make the internet a great and safe place for children, and to join the team you will need to have an interest in the ever changing online world and online safety. Being the School Relations and Administration Assistant gives you the opportunity to support the Childnet mission and see the positive impact that the organisation has.”
