Childnet launch Annual Review
Childnet has published its Annual Review 2008, outlining the work of Childnet over the past 2 years and setting targets for the future. Some of the highlights include helping to establish and develop an internet safety programme in Egypt, the sharing and adaptation of resources for use in Australia, New Zealand and a range of other countries, as well as working with and producing educational resources for the new UK Council for Child Internet Safety, and throughout all of this and more, keeping children and young people at the heart of Childnet’s work.
Childnet launch new logo for Youth IGF Project
Childnet International has unveiled a new logo designed to support the Youth IGF Project. The vibrant logo has been designed to accompany the project and Childnet’s outreach in this area and will feature on the soon to be launched Youth IGF Project YouTube channel.
Childnet receives funding to run youth IGF project
Childnet International has recently been awarded funding from Nominet Trust to support Childnet’s Youth Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Project. The project will provide young people with a chance to voice their opinions on the four main themes of the IGF; openness, access, security and diversity as they relate to the Internet, in response to criticisms that there had been little involvement of young people in the debate at the IGF.
New biography published on Nigel Williams, Childnet's founder and former CEO
A new book, 'Children's Champion' written by Lynda Neilands has been published, telling the story of Nigel's life. Nigel achieved so many things in his life, and one of them was being the visionary who saw the need for Childnet International, the energy and wisdom to establish this organisation, and provided inspirational leadership as CEO for the first 7 years of the charity's life, before he went on to become the first Commissioner for Children and Young People for Northern Ireland.
Childnet supports the launch of a new book for children: Who wnts 2 no?
Childnet are pleased to support the World Book Day launch of The Cybernuts, Who wnts 2 no? featuring a laugh-out-loud tale of a boy with a plan to get-rich-quick, his two smart friends and some evil aliens, created by O2 to raise children’s awareness of online safety.
Childnet’s KidSMART website – where kids do the talking
Childnet are thrilled to announce the launch of the new updated KidSMART website for children aged 7 upwards. www.kidsmart.org.uk is part of a range of new eSafety resources being launched by Childnet International to coincide with Safer Internet Day on 10th February 2009.
Premier of new e-safety resources for primary schools
To coincide with the international Safer Internet Day, children's internet charity Childnet International is premiering a new set of education E-safety resources for Primary schools. The interactive resources have been designed to empower all school employees at Primary level to better understand, tackle and teach e-safety issues to children.
Childnet networkers spring into 2009
Childnet's networkers got 2009 off to a strong and positive start, meeting in early January and covering a full agenda. The session held in Childnet's offices welcomed three new members who were quickly integrated into the team and whizzed by in a blur of fun, work and pizza. After considering and then designing their digital footprints, the networkers set to work in small groups focusing on a range of Childnet projects, sharing their thoughts and experience, before sharing their net-wisdom on film.
Know IT All for Parents wins BETT award
Childnet were proud winners of the BETT Award for E-safety at the 11th annual prestigious BETT Awards. Organised and managed by Emap, Becta and BESA (The British Educational Suppliers Association), the annual BETT Awards aim to recognise, reward and celebrate ICT excellence within the education sector by honouring outstanding resources and learning solutions developed by educational suppliers. Entries to the BETT Awards are judged by over 50 education professionals to ensure a fair and meticulous process.
