Childnet supports Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet day takes place on 12th February and Childnet is delighted to support and promote a range of activities being held on the day both in the UK and worldwide. To coincide with Safer Internet Day Childnet is launching a special interactive widget for children on the Childnet ‘Digizen’ website. The widget is designed to enable young people to express their wishes for their selves, their friends and their wider world and express their online citizenship values. Childnet’s youth panel gave advice on the types of wishes which young people can choose in designing their special widget, with choices including serious as well as fun statements.

Government minister addresses Childnet cyberbullying conference
Kevin Brennan MP - Parliamentary Under Secretary for Children, Young People and Families joined 140 guests at the National Cyberbullying Conference organized by Childnet international and the Department for Children Schools and Families. This second national conference looking at Cyberbullying was held at the Emirates Football Stadium conference centre in North London and delegates included representatives from schools, charities, Local Authorities, Local Children’s Safeguarding Boards as well as industry and academia.
Childnet trains 200 teachers on E-Safety and signs agreement with Government in Malta
Staff from Childnet today travelled to Malta to address a packed audience of 200 teachers at a day long E-Safety conference, promoting a positive message on the Whole-School Community approach to helping children and young people stay safe online. Childnet’s comprehensive range of resources developed in the UK, including an internet safety kit for students, safer internet resources for teachers, and a train the trainers programme were offered to the 200 Maltese teachers who attended the conference.

Childnet contributes to major international youth conference on ICT for Peace
Stephen Carrick-Davies, Childnet’s CEO travelled this week to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt to speak at International Youth Forum “The Power of Youth for Peace”. The international event, which was organised by The Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, brought together over 600 young people from 100 different countries to review how ICT could be better used in promoting and sustaining a culture of peace among young people.
