Childnet International today submitted and published its submission to the European Commission’s Public Consultation on Safer Internet and online technologies for children.
Parents helped to “Know IT All” in their own language
Government Minister welcomes new multi-lingual CD-ROM giving parents advice on internet safety. Childnet International, the children’s internet charity, announced today the launch of its latest Know IT All multimedia CD-ROM aimed at helping parents better support their children’s positive and safe use of the internet. In order to support the whole community, a summary of the advice has been translated into Arabic, Bengali, Gujarati, Polish, Mandarin, Punjabi, Urdu and British Sign Language.
Childnet calls for secondary curriculum review to include e-safety
This week Childnet international made its submission to the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Agency’s Review of the Secondary curriculum, calling for greater emphasis on E-Safety.
Childnet’s school outreach continues to expand
Childnet is wanting to expand its Kidsmart School Activity Days programme to respond to the growing demand from both primary and secondary schools for Childnet staff to run sessions with their pupils, staff and parents. Using drama, films, interactive presentations and discussions with pupils, Childnet staff are able to showcase and help inspire students to use the internet positively but also to listen to and help pupils reflect on the safety issues surrounding internet.
More (ISC)²® volunteers trained to deliver presentations to secondary school pupils
Following on from the pilot training in November 2006, Childnet have trained a further 80 internet security experts from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium [(ISC)²®], to deliver internet safety and security presentations to secondary school pupils in the UK.
Childnet Supports Safer Internet Day
Childnet welcomes Safer Internet Day on 6th February 2007. This year Childnet staff will be joining others in London for the UK Safer Internet Day conference and running a workshop on cyber bullying at the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre CEOP.
Childnet’s Jenny’s Story DVD – updated version now available
Childnet announced today that its Jenny’s Story DVD resource which was originally launched in January 2005 has been updated and is now available from the Childnet office.
E-safety in teacher training
Childnet announced today the start of an important pilot programme to help teachers in their initial teacher training become aware of the e-safety issues relating to their pupils’ use of the internet in both the classroom and outside of the school.
Childnet to help tackle cyberbullying in UK schools
Childnet announced today that it has been awarded the contract by the Department for Education and Skills to research and provide guidance for schools on preventing and responding to cyberbullying. This first phase of this work will be carried out between January and April 2007.
Childnet welcomes and supports the launch of PhoneBrain.co.uk
Childnet welcomes and supports the launch of PhoneBrain.co.uk, a new site designed to inform children and young people about premium rate services, which launches today 4th December. This site is particularly designed to informs children and make sure they know how to stay in control if they use these services and not run up big bills. The site was produced by ICSTIS the premium rate regulator, and Childnet helped to provide advice and help young people themselves have a say in the design and content of the site.
