Safer Internet Day packs are live!

12 November 2013

Safer Internet Day falls on the 11th February 2014, it’s important that this date is in the school calendar as it gives us another opportunity to shine a spotlight on esafety.

As part of the UK Safer Internet Centre; Childnet have created fantastic education packs to make it as easy as possible for schools and organisations to get involved! This year’s theme is “Let’s create a better internet together!” The theme highlights the responsibility that all users have in making the internet a better place – whether children and young people, parents and carers, educators and social care workers, or industry, decision makers and politicians.

This is why we have created education packs for not only primary and secondary pupils but also for parents and carers. This year the packs for pupils include an in depth lesson plan that encourages pupils to think creatively about how they can make the internet a better place. The packs also contain some quick classroom activities, drama activities, an assembly presentation and script and also a poster to start discussions and promote Safer Internet Day in your school.

We have also created everything you will need to run an information session for parents and carers. The pack includes a presentation and script, letters to send home and posters to promote the information session/evening. There are also printable resources for the parents including a resource sheet and parent checklist that you can give out during the presentation.

Once your school or organisation decides what they’re doing for Safer Internet Day why not fill in this form and let us know, then we can add you to the Safer Internet Day supporters list!
