Safer Internet Day 2010 will see the launch of a new toolkit of internet safety resources for secondary teachers. The Know IT All for Secondary toolkit has been developed to provide secondary school teachers with clear and practical resources covering key issues relating to developing young people’s skills in keeping safe online as well as equipping them to deal with risks. This comprehensive resource has been developed by children’s charity Childnet International, with the support of the TDA and the UK Council for Child Internet Safety and Becta.

To coincide with the international Safer Internet Day, children's internet charity Childnet International is premiering a new set of education E-safety resources for Primary schools. The interactive resources have been designed to empower all school employees at Primary level to better understand, tackle and teach e-safety issues to children.

Childnet's networkers got 2009 off to a strong and positive start, meeting in early January and covering a full agenda. The session held in Childnet's offices welcomed three new members who were quickly integrated into the team and whizzed by in a blur of fun, work and pizza. After considering and then designing their digital footprints, the networkers set to work in small groups focusing on a range of Childnet projects, sharing their thoughts and experience, before sharing their net-wisdom on film.

Childnet and Cisco Systems have successfully completed the pilot phase of their “Kidsmart” volunteering project, designed to help pupils in primary schools use the Internet safely. Childnet International employees and volunteers from Cisco Systems worked in partnership to teach over 1,000 pupils, across nine primary schools in the Tower Hamlets region of London.
