Meet Alice

Where are you from?

Liverpool

What do you love about going online?

I love being able to connect with friends and explore my hobbies interests online. My favourite thing about the internet would be the communities it creates, allowing my to share my passions with the people around me!

Why did you apply to join the Childnet Youth Advisory Board?

I wanted to join the youth Advisory board because I’ve seen first-hand the negative affects that online bullying and fake information can have on young people, reducing their confidence, trust and ability to make strong, lasting friendships with the people around them.

If you could change one thing about the internet, what would it be and why?

I’d ensure stricter regulations on false information were enforced, preventing young people from reading biased or untrue information presented as fact and changing the way they see the world.

If you could give one piece advice for adults about keeping children safe online, what would it be?

I would advise adults to encourage children to treat people online the same way they should in person, with kindness and respect. It can be too easy these days for people to forget that just because someone is behind a screen, it doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings.

What 5 words would you use to describe yourself?

Kind, passionate, optimistic, chatty and drive
