The countdown is on until the 2nd June! With only one month left until the Childnet Film Competition closes for entries, it’s time to get your camera rolling and your creativity flowing.
There’s still time for your students aged 7-18 to enter a short film into the competition. The theme for this year’s competition is: “It’s not your fault.” How can we support each other against online scams?
The brief is to create a 2 minute long film that looks at how young people can work together to tackle online scams. This could include supporting those who have been a victim of a scam, sharing information about how to spot and report content that may contain a scam, or advice about seeking help or more information.
Win some great filmmaking prizes for your school or youth group
Our competition provides a platform for young people to tell their stories and be heard in spaces they can’t usually access. Over the years, schools and youth groups have won DSLR cameras, tripods and filmmaking equipment…in short everything young people need to keep making great films!
Finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony in London where they have the prestigious judges from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), BBC, the Motion Picture Association and Disney!

Why enter the Childnet Film Competition?
Encourage creativity: The Childnet Film Competition presents a unique and exciting challenge for young aspiring filmmakers to develop their skills in film, media, and drama.
Build a portfolio: Regardless of whether they win or not, entering the competition provides students with a completed project to add to their portfolio. This showcases their ability to work within time constraints, meet deadlines, and produce high-quality work they can be proud of.
Make a positive change: The competition encourages students to explore online safety themes through a creative lens, and their films could inspire positive change in how people interact with each other online as well as be used as an educational resource for other young people right across the UK.
Connect with the industry: The winning films will be shown on the big screen in London. Following the screening, students have the opportunity to network and connect with other young filmmakers, as well as professionals in the film and online safety industry.
Win prizes: If a student’s film is selected as a winner, their school will receive a fantastic filmmaking prize to support future generations of young filmmakers.
