Time to talk! How can people support each other online?

On the 4th July 2023, the British Film Institute hosted the grand final of the Childnet Film Competition, where all finalists and representatives from their school or youth group were invited to watch their film on the big screen!

Not only that, but our judges attended to present the winners and runners-up with their trophies and prizes! Find out the winners and runners-up below and watch their film.

First place – Burnham Market Primary School

Congratulations to Burnham Market Primary School! Their film was chosen as the winner of the Primary Category in the Childnet Film Competition 2023.

Seeing or hearing something upsetting online can be stressful, and it’s important to take the time to talk! Using a lovely combination of stop motion animation and talking directly to camera, this film provides the audience with some useful tips to help deal with unwanted contact from others, so that everyone can get the most out of being online.

Second place – Sileby Redlands Community Primary School

Congratulations to Sileby Redlands Community Primary School! Their film was chosen as a finalist in the Primary Category in the Childnet Film Competition 2023.

This film shows us the different signs to look out for, that might mean a friend is struggling and needs to talk about it. It provides tips for how to have those difficult conversations, and how to be a good listener. Take time to talk, support and care for your friends on and offline!

Third place – Sir Donald Bailey Academy

Congratulations to Sir Donald Bailey Academy! Their film came third place in the Primary Category in the Childnet Film Competition 2023.

The internet can be an amazing place, full of brilliant opportunities. However, if something has upset or worried you, and you keep it to yourself, you might find that your problems have a sneaky way of following you around. But how can you make those problems disappear for good? Watch this wonderful film to find out!
